The Business Starter Free Checklist
Learn how to start your business the right way.
This free checklist is made for Anh, an aspiring entrepreneur starting her hospitality business.
Read the story:
I met Anh the other day, who was about to open a hospitality business.
Anh wants to start her business “the right way”—meaning that eventually, she wouldn’t need to “work” inside the business anymore. But she told me something paradoxical:
While she’s willing to do the dishes in her business, her ultimate dream is to stop working altogether—which is why she’s starting the business in the first place.
I pointed out that this contradiction doesn’t make sense.
Her willingness to do dishes is understandable—it’s natural for business owners to handle hands-on work, especially to cut costs early on. However, this should be clearly defined as a temporary phase, not a permanent arrangement.
But this insight alone isn’t sufficient. Based on my experience, I explained that she needs a proper structure and plan.
I outlined for her:
The essential elements needed to set up her business as a franchise prototype (from the E-myth book).
- How to progress from hands-on work to “handling the keys and teaching someone to pay the rent” (Like McDonals says)
- The fundamentals of starting her business correctly
- Reminder: When your first business fails, it’s usually due to a lack of clarity.
As a solution, I offered to create a checklist of essential items that I believe Anh must have.
This is a comprehensive business startup checklist outlining essential elements a founder must have (including an operations manual, growth plan, and customer journey control) and things to avoid, designed to help set up a business properly.
